Alain Bifani has served on Banque du Liban’s (BDL) Board of Directors since 2000. The board is in charge of setting the monetary policy and supervising the banking sector’s activity.
Bifani is also a member of the Higher Court for Banks in Lebanon and the Open Market Committee of BDL.
After preparing the draft law for the capital markets in Lebanon, Bifani became a permanent member of the Capital Markets Authority’s Board once the policy was voted into law in 2013. The Capital Markets Authority acts as the capital markets’ watchdog. They are in charge of developing the markets and ensuring transparency and efficiency with regards to the markets’ operations.
In 2000, Alain Bifani wrote the first insider trading law in Lebanon. It was voted in 2011.
